The Mercer Hotel. If you want to spend some serious cash, consider this place. Consistently high marks in every regard. Celebs, too, but ones a rubyist on vacation might actually want to encounter—a George Lucas sighting was mentioned in a Yelp review, for instance.

Hotel Gansevoort. Boutique, with free wi-fi throughout and wii console and games available in all rooms. Chic, fairly-convenient-to-conference location. ( I live next door. It’s a superb neighborhood, lots to do, but watch out for the rats)
